Cubs
The Cubs at the 1st Portsmouth and is made up of boys and girls aged between 8 and to 10 and a half. We meet in Cathedral House, behind the Anglican cathedral, in Old Portsmouth on Wednesday evenings during term time from 1830-2000hrs. Although we are a Sea Scouting Group the Cub uniform is the same as our Land Cub counterparts and consists of a green cub jersey (normally covered in hard earned badges) and the 1st Portsmouth black necker.
The Cub leaders, Baloo and Kaa run wide ranging activities from cooking to knot tying and star gazing to team building and along with a bewildering variety of games to keep the Cubs entertained and engaged, the evening are never dull. In the summer months the Cubs tend to do more outdoor activities including wide games (large open space games) and skills work either on the Cathedral Green and on Southsea Common.
During the summer term the Cubs have a weekend camp under canvas, usually in a dedicated Scouting camp site, and have a few taster sessions on the water using the Group’s boats to prepare them for their time in Sea Scouts.
